Glasses-Free 3D Light-Field Display and Control Technology in Medicine and Education: Current Status, Challenges, and Future Trends

ABSTRACT

Glasses-free 3D light-field display and control technology, as a representative of next-generation stereoscopic displays, is profoundly transforming paradigms in medical education and clinical practice. This review systematically summarizes recent advances in glasses-free 3D light-field technology, both domestically and internationally, and highlights its innovative applications in anatomical instruction, surgical training, clinical diagnosis, and therapeutic navigation. Furthermore, it critically examines current challenges from perspectives such as visual comfort, content ecosystem development, and standardization. From the viewpoints of technological convergence and application-scenario expansion, we outline future directions for this technology in smart healthcare and medical education. This review aims to provide a comprehensive technical reference and application guide for medical education researchers, clinicians, and medical device developers.
